OK, to start with I am an "Oceanic" diver. All of my equipment, with few exceptions, is Oceanic. I have owned a DataMask for about ten years with many, many dives--in fact, I could not imagine a dive without it. Oceanic finally retired the sad old thing and no longer supports it. When I could not get my last set of dives off it, I decided it was time to retire it. Enter Shearwater, which I am now, in spite of the 'Worldwide' moniker of Oceanic, going to call the 'Oceanic of Canada'. The NERD 2 was the answer to my prayers--sounds corny, but I am adapted to a HUD dive computer and it solved my problem. Add to that the fact that it supports my new rebreather via the Fischer input cable so I am in diver heaven. This thing is just incredible--did I mention dual tank transmitter support? I don't care what kind of diving you do, it does it. Minimal clutter and sophisticated diver-aware functionality--what's not to love?
