Rosie,

Lake Denton brings back memories. That lake was my first dive too, when back when i was 13 (Long time ago). Score your Open Water Diving and associated side certifications when you can next. Salvage and Night Diving is so cool!!!

If I'm not mistaken, Scuba instructor takes a long time to accomplish. Not saying it ain't easy, I just heard it required Master Dive Certification. Rosie, the Sherriff's Department has a dive team if you ever considered going into Law Enforcement.

Though, the biggest advice I could give you, is go into the Coast Guard, yes I know you have children, but if you care about them too on every level, the U.S. Military will be able to provide you with Child Care, benefits, housing, and College. The only thing you would have to worry about is having someone watch your kids while your at Basic --> Tech Schoo --> Station (opt for FL.).

Have you considered being a recreational scuba instructor? If done correctly, you can make a comfortable living with relatively light hours (plus if you can actually work in a retail dive shop too, that makes it even better), plus you get to share your apparent love for the underwater world with others. Let me know if you have questions about it, I did it for years and am working my way back to it.
